The components of this window system, when combined, provide an extremely energy efficient window. Windows are now being recognised as one of the key areas for loss of heat in many New Zealand homes. This is particularly relevant in many modern houses with large areas of windows and doors. For that reason, most councils are now pushing for compulsory double glazing in all new houses. However, this has limited benefit if the window sashes are not completely sealed.
Our 68mm thick timber profile for both frame and sash, not only create a large thermal break between inside and outside climates, they also provide a rebate in the sash which is large enough to accommodate even the largest double or triple glazed unit.
The insulating glass unit is then isolated from the timber sash by a silicone sealant on both interior and exterior. All glazing beads are fixed on the inside of the sash.
All windows and doors are fitted with a continuous non-perishing rubber seal that is compressed when the unit is locked. This means that energy saved by insulating glass units is not lost through unsealed frames.
The aluminum stormwater sill is also thermally broken. Further reducing condensation.
Blind or curtains become unnecessary, leaving views unrestricted.
All this amounts to a window system that is unrivaled when it comes to energy efficiency.

WinterInsulating Glass Units are a combination of two panes of glass with a sealed cavity between them. This cavity can be filled with air or an inert gas such as argon. The larger the space between these panes, the more effective the unit is.
The benefits of insulating glass units (double glazed) include:
There are many different insulating glass unit options to suit budget, energy efficiency, safety and security requirements.
Standard air filled double glazed units offer 55 percent better thermal performance than standard single glazing.
Double glazed units filled with argon gas increases this a further 15 percent.
The combination of Low E glass and argon provides as much as 44 per cent improvement in thermal performance over an air filled unit.
With the wintech system of windows and doors, any of these glazing options are possible due to the thick profile of our sash.
